Skin tags are harmless tumors that look like a small piece of hanging skin on your body. It’s a tiny piece of skin formed in shape of ball or oval and it connects narrowly to the skin. Skin tags can differ in size and are usually from absolutely tiny to the size of an eraser. Their color is usually the same as the skin, but again it occasionally varies a bit, sometimes being a bit darker or lighter. - Suture – This involves tying a surgical suture around the base of the skin tag in order to cut the blood supply to the skin tag.
- Electro-cauterization – This uses an electrified instrument to burn the skin tags completely.
- Laser Surgery – A laser is used to destroy the skin tag.
- Cryosurgery – Very low temperatures are used to freeze and kill the skin tags.
These methods are surgical procedures and should not be performed at home and should be performed by a qualified doctor only. Each of the above methods has its own advantages and disadvantages, with the procedures not being entirely pain free. Therefore, it is important that you talk discuss the procedure with your doctor and know all details about the removal.
Skin tags can also be removed at home by several home treatments. These methods require common ingredients that are easily available at home.
